You’ve always wanted a guinea pig but you aren’t sure if you are going to be able to care for one because you’re unsure of the sizes of guinea pigs. That’s a good thing to research because many pets do get to be a rather large size however; the sizes of guinea pigs are often quite small although they can grow to be about the size of a small dog. The guinea pig originally came from South America and was domesticated by the Incas tribes of Peru to be raised for the fur as well as for the food. The Incas used them for trading as well and some of the European slave traders took them back to Europe where they became hugely popular pets. The guinea pig is a lovely pet with a wonderful personality and requires human interaction and playtime, as they are very affectionate and warm creatures. It is important that if you are getting more than one to make sure they are not male and female because they make offspring very quickly and before you know it, you’ll have many generations of them!
